This was the last book to read to complete this series. I was hoping that Lori's story would eventually improve in character development with a realistic plot. Grayson is an attractive and believable character; but Lori seemed to be the same 15 year old airhead and motor-mouthed girl that she has been portrayed as in the other books of the series. I think every reader understands that she is impetus and outspoken; but she can be and is downright abrasive and somewhat insensitive...and lacking in subtlety. Falling in love with Grayson is meant to mature her and display her finer points and loving nature; but it was like he was falling in love with a bouncing ball most of the time. His story overshadowed hers because his could be believed, and he was a sympathetic and carefully-drawn character.I did like the part about the dance where she used the imagery of the flower and blade of grass. That was lyrical and deftly written. The country wedding was a tad hokey also. Really, a wedding without the bride knowing about it at all - no blood tests and getting a license that she would have to do to marry, even in a rural town in California??!!!
The Sullivan Family has some interesting and intriguing characters. I have liked most of their journeys to love and marriage. I would rank their level of interest, plots, and characters as follows: #1 Sophie and Jake; #2 Smith and Valentina; #3 Ryan and Vicki; #4 Marcus and Nicola; #5 Gabe and Megan; #6 Zach and Heather; #7 Lori and Grayson; and #8 Chase and Chloe (the last having little plot and minimal character development). I am reading the novel about their parents now, and, thankfully, Mary and Jack had more spark, fire, warmth, passion, feeling, and verve than any of their kids have displayed in 8 novels. Granted they are all formula novels; but this is a family that can "live on the page", even without the formula, if given some depth of character and other intriguing plotlines. I do believe that readers understand that this is a strong, loving, smart, and exciting family that anyone would enjoy being a part of. Unfortunately, not all of the individual members seem to be able to convey that message satisfactorily.

Always On My Mind The Sullivans Book 8 edition by Bella Andre Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I just finished reading, "Always on My Mind," and absolutely loved it. It was so wonderful to see Lori, the final unmarried sibling in Mary and Jack Sullivan's family, find her happily ever after with Grayson! They were made for each other. And I loved the way Bella recapped all the couples in her other books in this series at the end, and also gave us a tasty tidbit of what is to come in future books from this great author, with Rafe and possibly with Mary! I just loved all of her books in this Sullivan series and wish they could go on and on. I urge you to read every book in this wonderful series. Although they are stand alone to a certain degree, you will have a better understanding of the dynamics of this wonderful family if you read all of her wonderful books. These books are filled with love, many laughs and twists and turns that are completely entertaining. Don't miss out on a great series!!!
It's time to say farewell to the Sullivan's of San Francisco. Naughty has met her match and has finally found the love of her life.
After finally seeing what kind of scum Victor is, Lori "Naughty" Sullivan runs out on the dance troupe and Victor and heads back to California. But, she can't go home. She can't face her family and the questions that they will have for her. She just wants to be alone, start a new life without dance and just "be". After being told how wonderful Pescadero, CA is, she decides to head out there and see what it's all about. A stop in the General leads her to a ranch that's looking for a "Farmhand". Well, what a change that would be - from dancer to farmhand. She couldn't ask for anything better.
Grayson heard the tires, heard the squawking of the chickens and then watched as the car crashed into his fence post. Who could this be? Everyone knows that he does not want anyone on his farm - he's a loner and made sure that everyone knew that. Enter a beautiful, brown-haired woman wearing white tights and a multi-colored sequined top that took his breath away and had him screaming about all the ruckus! Time to get rid of her, and fast. He doesn't need a woman around to make his life complicated.
Well, of course, Naughty has other plans - she's going to be his farmhand no matter what kind of person he is, no matter how mean and gruff he is, no matter how gorgeous he is. She'll prove to him that she's not just some pampered little girl, even if it means scrubbing his toilet, mucking the pig sty and chasing chickens! After losing his wife, he just wants peace and quiet and this woman would be nothing but trouble. But, after agreeing to a trial, giving her all the dirty jobs he could think of, being a mean, nasty son-of-a-bitch, Grayson finally gives up, gives in and gets what he's wanted from the minute he laid eyes on Lori - her legs wrapped around his hips.
Yes, you gotta love "Naughty" and how she gives as good as she gets. Well, you kind of have to growing up one of eight with 6 brothers. But, everyone agrees, Naughty is one of a kind, a free-spirit with a mouth and temper that can rival the best. Now, all she has to do if figure out how to break through Grayson, to get him to let go of his past, to get him to love again. And, Grayson needs to come to terms with his feelings for Lori and how bad he really wants her. Once those two feats are accomplished, their lives could move forward - together - forever.
I had so many different emotions while reading "Always on My Mind". I was melancholy when I started the book just knowing that Naughty was it for our Sullivan's. But the storyline was unbelievable and made me tear up more than once. To watch Lori fall out of love with dancing and having Grayson fighting his feelings for her from the beginning was heart-wrenching. Yes, your heart breaks for Lori but you know, deep down, that she will come bouncing back one way or another. And, Grayson, what a wonderful, loving, generous, sweet man he turned out to be after he finally gave in to his feelings for her. And, the ending - well, there is no way I am giving that away! I will just say that Lori gets what she truly, truly deserved and, if you didn't fall in love with Grayson before then, well you will now.
Ms. Andre, thank you so much for these wonderfully written, exciting and sexy series. I fell a little in love with each of the Sullivan men and absolutely adored all of the Sullivan woman. Mary Sullivan, our matriarch does deserve an HEA and I am so happy to see that you are going to tell her story. What a wonderful, warm human being she is - the mother that we all wished we had! As for your Epilogue, well, I cried like a baby. It was so very touching and moving as you started to introduce us to Rafe while saying good-bye to Marcus, Smith, Chase, Gabe, Zach, Ryan and Sophie (Nice) and all their significant others. I reminisced right with her remembering each of their stories.
This is a good romance, but the plot was a little too far-fetched for me. I grew up on a farm, so I know for a fact that a city girl would not be able to do farm chores without a lot of time for learning first. Also, there is no way Grayson would have let her stay there to begin with -- he would have insisted on hiring an experienced farm hand.
Once I got past how unbelievable their meeting was, the romance was actually very nice. They were both lonely, and damaged from their past mistakes and relationships -- so they were good for each other. Grayson was hard to like at first, because he was so gruff and mean. He had reasons for that behavior, and he did get much better as the story progressed and he stopped trying to push Lori away.
